CD & DVD Duplication, Replication and Printing

Replication and Duplication

Reef Digital Media offers CD and DVD Duplication, Replication and Printing.

There are certain criteria that will make one method suit your project over the other and we are happy to advise a 'best fit' for you.

As a general rule replication of discs start with a minimum run of 500 units. However, it can be more cost effective to produce shorter runs (usually above 300 units) using replication too. Replicated discs (or pressed discs) have an approximate turnaround time of 7-9 working days. It is highly recommended that audio CDs are replicated rather than duplicated.

Duplicated discs (or burnt discs) are a faster turnaround for shorter runs but cost more per unit.

Disc Printing

Again Reef Digital Media offers different methods of producing a professional looking image on the disc face.

Short run prints of CD and DVDs is usually done by either digitally printed paper labels adhered to the disc face, or using thermal colour print (often called rimage overprint, everest, or colour ribbon).

Larger runs of discs (again usually 500 units upwards) are either screenprinted or now more commonly offset printed.

All the above printing methods are done in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). Also as blank discs start as silver tops a white colour may need to be added depending on your artwork - effectively making print a five colour process.
